Reformation Day, plus

Hey Everyone!

Hope everyone is staying dry!!   If you didn't make it to the annual L.P.P.C Reformation Service, you really missed out!!  Pastor Cody & St. John's did a great job of hosting the service this year!!

Hope everyone also takes out some time on Saturday to remember / reflect on what happened on October 31st in 1517.   Without Luther posting those 95 theses, we would still be holding "Mass" in Latin!!

Anyway, before I get on my soapbox and carry on about Martin Luther & the Reformation, let me tell ya' about the Voter's Meeting held on Sunday evening.....

1) I know we have some differences of opinion....especially where the financial stuff is concerned.  But I am impressed with how polite and courteous everyone is during our Voter's Meetings.   At the congregation that I served in Grand Rapids, Michigan, it was another story!!  People got brutal with each other.   So, in my humble opinion,  it is nice to see some folks willing to  "agree to disagree."

2)  It is also very positive, in my humble opinion, to be at a congregation where we will have real elections!!  The congregations that I have been a part of, either as a member & / or a Pastor, the elections were more like ratifications of the list of people who had their arms twisted to be on the "ballot."    So,  kudos to everyone who volunteered!!   I am very impressed.

Well, I better sign off.....have a great week!!  And we will see you all back here on Sunday, if not before!!

Take care and God's Blessings!!

Hi Everyone -

I spoke with Pastor Cody earlier today.   Things are looking good for the annual L.P.P.C. Reformation Service being held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett.  Just a reminder,  the service does start at 2:00 p.m. as mentioned in church yesterday morning.

Hope to see you all there!!

Thank You!

Hi Everyone!!

Two quick things.....

1) THANK YOU to the Congregation (& Elder's) for the wonderful surprise this morning!!!  It was totally unexpected, and - as surprising as this might be - I am still speechless!!

I am truly humbled to be serving here at Trinity, and really cannot believe the first year has gone by - and has gone so well!!  If I have anything to do with it, I would really like to stay at Trinity for the long term.

2) The annual L.P.P.C. Reformation Service next Sunday is at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett, and starts at  2:00 p.m.

I still hope to get some new items on the blog in the near future......time permitting, of course .

Have a great week!!

Take care, God's Blessings, and see you all next Sunday at Church - if not before .

Why the Change??

Hi Everyone -

I know that there have been a few questions about why we have gone back & forth between Setting One & Setting Three in our Lutheran Service Book hymnal. I apologize for not explaining these changes better.  We have switched between the two services – and will continue to do so – for the purpose of providing some variety in our worship services.  By switching between Setting One & Setting Three we are providing that variety, while at the same time staying true to the Liturgy that has served the Church for centuries.

My goal, within the next twelve – fifteen months, is to not only continue switching between Settings One & Three, but to also add a third service from our Lutheran Service Book hymnal.  The third service will be announced and added in the next few months.  And by the end of 2010 we will be rotating through the three services on a regular basis.

I hope this answers any questions or concerns that you might have.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

As always, I continue to be both extremely glad & proud to be serving as the Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt!!  I hope this past year is only a foretaste of the things to come! Here is to many more years of serving Christ & His Church together!

Take care & God's Blessings!

In HIS Service,
Pastor B
